NIDEK TONOREF III is a next-generation multifunctional diagnostic system that integrates refraction, keratometry, tonometry, and pachymetry measurements in one compact device. It delivers high precision, fast results, and a smooth workflow, making vision diagnostics more efficient and reliable. The system measures refraction across both central and wide pupil zones, evaluates accommodation response, and determines corneal thickness and intraocular pressure — all through non-contact technology. Its refined measurement algorithms and intuitive interface ensure consistent and accurate data, even in complex clinical cases. Automated calculation of corrected IOP

The TONOREF™ III features an automated calculation of corrected intraocular pressure (IOP) based on the central corneal thickness, allowing for more accurate diagnostics by accounting for individual anatomical differences.


Accommodation measurement

Objective measurement of accommodation is performed as the patient focuses on a target that gradually moves from a distant point to a near one. This method provides an accurate assessment of the accommodative response without relying on subjective input.

Opacity assessment

The retroillumination image allows for the evaluation of ocular media opacity, including corneal, lens, and vitreous opacities, aiding in comprehensive assessment of optical clarity.

Large pupil zone imaging method

The large pupil zone imaging method measures both central and wide-area refraction. The difference between these measurements enables evaluation of the effect of pupil size on vision quality, particularly under dim lighting conditions.

Double mire ring method

Keratometry measurements performed using the mire ring method reduce interference from the eyelids. The TONOREF™ III conducts measurements at 3.3 mm and 2.4 mm diameters. Comparing these values provides a better understanding of corneal shape and curvature variation.

Patient-friendly air puff

Automatic Puff Control (APC) optimizes air pressure during follow-up measurements by referencing previous measurement data, ensuring a softer and quieter air puff. The specially designed gentle nozzle reduces the patient’s sensation of physical pressure, making the test more comfortable.


In subsequent measurements, the APC function performs the measurement with the minimum air pressure based on the previous measurement data.
